One of women’s softball’s most colorful pitchers, baffling hitters with her windmill delivery and variety of pitches, she starred for the five-time national champion A-1 Queens of Phoenix and led them to numerous state and regional championships. An amazingly durable pitcher who once pitched 21 consecutive nine-inning games on as many nights in 1945, when she led the Queens to the quarter-finals of the national tournament at Cleveland, before bowing to the world champion Jax Brewers of New Orleans. A dangerous batter, as well, she often played first base to take advantage of her hitting prowess.
