From 1977 -1980 Kim pitched for Chandler High School and currently holds 23 school pitching records.

She attended Mesa Community College in 1981 & 82 with an ERA of 0.85 and a season record of 9 - 3. She earned NJCAA All-American honors while attending Mesa Community College in 1981.

Kim attended Arizona State University in 1983 & 84. She earned All Conference Honors and currently holds the 2nd all time lowest ERA in ASU History with a 0.55.

In the 1980's she played for the Phoenix Arrows and Bob Swan's Ramblers in the Copperstate Softball League.
