Ron played fast pitch softball from 1970 to 1992. He was considered one of best pitchers to come out of Arizona. He played in 8 national tournaments. Was voted to the All-State Team 4 times and were the leading hitter and pitcher on the Arizona State League Champion 4 times. He was voted numerous times as the Most Valuable Player and or pitcher.
