Joe participated in 6 national tournaments. He has won numerous All- Tournament awards. He was fourth in hitting at the 1963 ISC World Tournament and received All-State honors in 1960 and 1961-1965. He received the Most Valuable Player Award at the 1960 ASA Regionals
