Gil was one of the most outstanding pitchers to come out of Arizona. He pitched from 1956 to 1984 for many of the best teams in America. He played in 14 national tournaments and named to All State Teams five times. He pitched two no-hitters in the ISC World Tournament. He pitched the Page Raiders to the World Championship in 1974. Gil was voted to the ISC All World Team in 1971, 1973, 1974 and 1975. He was named ISC’s Most Valuable Player in the World Tournament of 1971. Gil was inducted into the International Softball Congress (ISC) Hall of Fame in 1992. In 2002 Gil was inducted into the Arizona Hispanic Hall of Fame and in 2004 into the Houston Latino Hall of Fame.
