Former president of the Arizona Umpire’s Association, this arbiter began calling balls and strikes in Eastern Indiana in 1931 and achieved notable success in this difficult field. He organized the American Legion Umpire’s Association in 1960 and served as their booking agent for several years, a function he also fulfilled for the AUA (Arizona Umpires Association). After earning distinction as an umpire in the Indiana High School Athletic Association and the National Fast ball League, he became one of he leading umpires at Phoenix Softball Park, home of Arizona’s major softball.
