As sponsor of Phoenix Auto Supply softball teams from 1938 to 1947, his ambitious support and dedicated interest played a major role in earning for Phoenix the title Softball Capital of the World. His teams won several major championships, including those of the Men’s Major League as well as, state and regional titles. He was one of the first sponsors to import outstanding pitchers, who in turn boosted his team and Phoenix softball into national prominence. One of Arizona’s leading businessmen, he also has served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
