An outstanding catcher and manager, his 11-year career in Arizona major league softball featured by strong contributions to several state and regional championship teams and participation in seven national tournaments at Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Bridgeport, Conn., Fresno, Calif., Salt Lake City and Greeley, Colo. His strong and accurate throwing arm earned him recognition as one of the state’s finest catchers and his hitting ability also ranked with the best. He was player-manager for some of Arizona’s leading teams, including O. S. Stapley Co., A-1 Construction, Phoenix Kings and Wright Coolers. Other outstanding teams which benefited from his skills were Phalanx Fraternity, Clark Smith Autos, Jones Ranchers of Eloy and Deal Motors Co of El Paso, Texas.
