Roy has umpired in Nebraska and Arizona for the past 62 years. He was also a youth softball Deputy Junior Olympic Commissioner for three years. In 1976, Roy was selected as Umpire of the Year. The ASA presented Roy with the John McGonigle Memorial Award for Umpire Excellence in 1998.
