As sponsor of the Farm Fresh Markets softball team which in 1947 won the first national championship of the National Softball Congress, forerunner of the International Softball Congress. His active and dedicated support played a major role in earning for Phoenix the title of Softball Capital of the World. His teams won Men’s Major League, state and regional championships as well as the national title which enhanced Phoenix’ position as leader in the world of softball.
