Sponsor of the Fike Plumbers which dominated Major Men’s League softball during the years 1949 through 1954, his teams attracted nationwide attention, finishing runner-up three times in national tournaments. His teams won regional honors in 1951, 1953 and 1954 and maintained Arizona softball prestige at a high level with his competitiveness on both state and national levels. His interest and support as a sponsor was a major contribution to success of softball during the 1950s.
