Through her role as Recreation Supervisor for Sports for the City of Phoenix, Arizona, she was responsible for the development of the softball facilities and programs in the Greater Phoenix Area. Karen was responsible for securing the first National Softball Championship for Phoenix in 1990 and followed that with national tournaments in 1994 and 1997.
